---- — CLINTON — Nicole Kelly of Keokuk won the 2013 Miss Iowa crown Saturday.
The candidates from Clinton did not grab the crown, but they did not walk away empty handed.
Miss Johnson County Taylor Wiebers, of Clinton, received the Miracle Maker award from the Children’s Miracle Network, the night one preliminary award for talent, and was the third runner-up in the Miss Iowa competition.
Another Clinton native, Molly McDonnell, participated in the Miss Iowa Outstanding Teen pageant but was defeated for the top spot by Emma Kate Wichman.
McDonnell took first runner-up, won the People’s Choice award, and received awards in both preliminary rounds, one in Lifestyle and Fitness and one in Talent.
Despite not winning the Miss Iowa title, Wiebers expressed what a wonderful experience the competition was for her.
“It was a great week filled with tons of rewarding appearances,” Wiebers said. “The girls were wonderful and definitely a pleasure to get to know.”
Ashley Herrington participated as Miss Clinton County.
