CLINTON — Hundreds of Clinton families received items from the Holiday Network over the past week.

The Holiday Network had its annual distribution days Tuesday and Wednesday at the Clinton Church of Christ, 210 N. 13th St. Approximately 25 volunteers helped those signed up find socks, underwear, scarves, gloves, hats, presents and other gifts.

“I appreciate all of the help,” Melyssa Fenzel said Wednesday. “It helps out a lot.”

Fenzel picked out some socks and underwear, as well as other clothing. She also received a portable “potty” for her child.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program Director Tammy Meyer said in a Thursday phone interview that she felt the distribution days went well. She estimated that approximately 375 families were served by the event. There were plenty of hats, gloves and scarves to go around, according to Meyer.

“I think everyone was pretty, fairly pleased with what they got,” Meyer said.

Jamie Schaver was happy with the event on Wednesday. His family has four children that will receive a present through the Holiday Network. While this was his family’s second time to sign up with the distribution, it was Schaver’s first time to come to it himself. He thought it was wonderful.

“This is just amazing that people in the community come together to help, to help families out,” Schaver said. “It just amazes me.”

Meyer was grateful to the volunteers who worked to make the program a success. She said she also appreciates all of the community effort and support the Holiday Network received.

“Without the community support we wouldn’t be able to do what the Holiday Network does. We do appreciate it,” Meyer said.
