From frilly flower girl gowns to flowing wedding dresses and colorful formal wear, Bargain Bonanza will have something for every occasion at its Prom and Bridal Fashion Show on Monday. The thrift store that benefits Unity Christian School in Fulton, Ill., will be showcasing a variety of new bridal and formal wear donated by Images in Port Byron, Ill., along with gently used dresses.
“We’re showcasing the new dresses, but all of our used dresses will also be available,” Store Manager Wendy Evans said.
“It is a great opportunity to get a dress at a reasonable price.”
Students from Unity Christian School and other volunteer models will parade down the aisle at the store located at 1501 N. Second St. at 7 p.m. Monday. Following the show, all dresses will be available for sale. The store will remain open to allow time for customers to try on dresses.
Evans and volunteer staff were working on putting together their first spring fashion show when the donation of more than 100 dresses and several boxes of dress shoes were dropped off at the store. The entire store, including the jewelry counter, will be open during the show, allowing plentiful opportunities to accessorize.
Women’s Department Captain Barb Wessels has been busy unwrapping and organizing all the dresses in addition to dressing the models.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s nice to know that you’re helping out the kids,” Wessels said.
Tuxedos from Boegel’s Menswear will also be modeled during the show. For more information call the store at 243-0891.
