Inclement weather causes pile-up in Carroll County

MT. CARROLL, Ill. — Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a five-vehicle accident on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:35 p.m.
The sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Illinois 78, North of Vinegar Hill Road, five miles South of Mt. Carroll. Due to snow-covered roads and heavy snow fall, a chain reaction accident occurred at the location, resulting in the five-vehicle accident with two semi trucks and three other vehicles.
According to a press release from Carroll County Sheriff, Jeff Doran, all occupants escaped serious injury. Sandra Surface, 56, of Metamora, Ill. and Paula Ahles, 55, of Metamora, Ill., were transported to Mercy by Thomson and Chadwick ambulance. They were both treated and released. Also involved in the accident were Charles Jordan, 60, of Lena, Ill., Kara Spearman, 40, of Clinton, Ann Kluesner, 46, of Bartonville, Ill. and Lynden Snetcher, 62, of Shannon, Ill.
The accident remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the Mt. Carroll Fire, Police and Ambulance, Thomson Ambulance, Chadwick Ambulance and Police Department and the Lanark Fire and Ambulance Department.
