Whiteside deputies investigating crash

MORRISON, Ill. — Whiteside County sheriff’s deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash at 10 p.m. Wednesday on Illinois 78, just north of Bunker Hill Road, involving a semi and a minivan.
According to a release from the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, the semi attempted to exit a private drive when the trailer became stuck in the soft shoulder of the driveway. The semi was disabled with the tractor portion parked in the southbound lane of Illinois 78. A southbound vehicle driven by Duane L. Cathelyn, 83, of Mineral, Ill., struck the parked semi.
Cathelyn and a front seat passenger, Rosemary Croegaert, 75, of Annawan, Ill., were transported to Morrison Community Hospital by Morrison EMS. No information was available on Cathelyn and Croegaert’s medical conditions.
The crash remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Morrison police officers, firefighters and EMS.
