FULTON, Ill. — A Fulton man is in critical condition following a motorcycle accident on Saturday near U.S. 30.
According to a press release from the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, Alan Barsema, 21, was southbound on Elston Road, north of U.S. 30 and south of Fulton, when he lost control of the motorcycle.
Barsema was not wearing a helmet and was thrown several feet from the bike.
He was transported to Mercy Medical Center North by Fulton Ambulance and later transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The release states high speeds and alcohol may have played a part in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Fulton police and fire departments, Medic Ambulance and Midwest Towing.
