UPDATE: Three suspects detained in Green Island stabbing

Rebecca Boysen
Herald Staff Writer

MILES — Three men are in custody following an early morning stabbing in rural Miles, commonly known as Green Island, after eluding law enforcement for several hours.

At approximately 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Jackson County Sheriff’s officials were called to the home of Bill Theisen, at 8253 475th Ave., where they found Theisen and a female at the residence. Theisen was bleeding from numerous puncture wounds to the upper torso, and was transported to the Jackson County Regional Health Center, where he was treated and released.

Deputies received a description of the vehicle being driven by the three suspects, and located it in the area of the Theisen residence upon arrival. A chase ensued, with Jackson and Clinton county deputies pursuing the suspects. The suspects’ vehicle ran into a ditch in Clinton County, and the occupants fled on foot. Shannon Crete, 26, of Savanna, Ill., was apprehended near the scene by Jackson County officials as he was walking on a gravel road in the area.

Robert McClain, 40, of rural Sabula, and Brian Drury, 44, of Green Island, remained at large for several hours, and were later apprehended at the McClain residence without incident, around 12:15 p.m. As a precautionary measure, neighboring schools in the Northeast, Preston and East Central districts were placed on lock-down until all three suspects were in custody.

According to officials, Crete, McClain and Drury are being held in the Jackson County Detention Center on $30,000 bond pending court appearances. Theisen, 30, who was wanted on a Scott County warrant for failure to appear, is being held in the Scott County Jail on $1534.64 bond.
