CLINTON — The Clinton County Democrats will hold their 2008 Hall of Fame Dinner on Saturday at Buzzy’s in Welton.
A social hour will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m.
This year the group will honor activists Dr. Tom Gibbons, retired physics professor at Clinton Community College, and Dick Kissack, retired chemistry teacher at Clinton High School, for their many years of service to the Democratic party. Both are current members of the County Central Committee.
“Both have made significant contributions to bringing news of Clinton County Democratic Party activities to Democrats throughout the Clinton area,” said a release from the Clinton County Democrats. “Both honorees are active in many community projects.”
State Democratic Party Chairman Scott Brennan will be the keynote speaker at the dinner, and Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives Pat Murphy, D-Dubuque, will be a special guest. Among the honored Democratic office holders attending the dinner will be State Senators Roger Stewart, D-Preston, and Frank Wood, D-Eldridge, and State Representatives Polly Bukta, D-Clinton, and Tom Schueller, D-Maquoketa, Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln, County Auditor Charlie Sheridan and Clinton County Supervisors Dennis Starling and Grant Wilke.
The event is open to the public, and tickets may be obtained by calling County Chairwoman Jean Pardee at 242-8111 or e-mailing her at jmpardee@mchsi.com.
Democrats who have had significant success in furthering the principles of the Democratic Party are eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Those principles include promoting security and prosperity for all Americans and encouraging all citizens to assume the responsibility of participation in their government.
