CLINTON — One man is dead after an accident on Friday on 442nd Avenue just north of Clinton.
At 11:43 p.m., deputies from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident with injuries in the 1800 block of 442nd Avenue.
The vehicle involved was southbound on 442nd Avenue and went off onto the shoulder as it entered a curve. The driver over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross the road, enter the east ditch and overturn.
The driver was identified as James Balk, 1720 North Eighth St. Balk was transported by Andover Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton where he was pronounced dead.
The Clinton Police Department, Andover Fire Department and the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
