CAMANCHE — During the Camanche City Council’s meeting on Tuesday night, Mayor Jim Robertson presented an e-mail communication concerning funding for emergency generators for Camanche secured by U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley.
According to the e-mail, $187,500 was included in the 2010 fiscal year Homeland Appropriations bill which was passed by the House Appropriations Committee. The bill will now move to the full House for consideration.
The $187,500 will be used to design and construct emergency generators for the Camanche police and fire departments. The generators would allow first responders to continue operating during power outages and natural disasters.
“Preparing for natural disasters today will help protect area families and businesses in the future,” stated Braley in the release, adding, “I’m proud to secure funding that will keep Camanche safe and ensure that first responders have the resources necessary to help during a natural disaster.”
Robertson said he was grateful for the help Braley has offered with this bill.
