Central Community School special election ballots available

CLINTON — Absentee ballots are available in the Clinton County Auditor’s office for the June 30 Central Community School special election.

The June 30 special election is on the authorization of the Board of Directors of the Central Community School District to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $13,950,000 to provide funds to complete a building improvement program, including to construct, furnish and equip additions to the middle school and high school facility and to repair, renovate, improve, furnish and equip the middle school and high school facility and to improve the site.

Registered voters who will not be able to vote at their precinct on June 30 may request and vote an absentee ballot in person at the Auditor’s office in the Clinton County Administration Building, 1900 N. Third St., Clinton.

A registered voter may also make a written request for an absentee ballot by mail by filling out an absentee ballot request form. That request must include the voter’s name, address, date of birth, name of the election and either the voter’s Iowa driver’s license number or the last four digits of their social security number. The request must be signed by the person requesting the ballot and the request should be mailed to the Clinton County Auditor; P.O. Box 2957; Clinton, IA; 52733-2957. Printable applications for absentee ballots are available on the Auditor’s Web site at www.clintoncountyiowa.com/auditor. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot by mail is 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 26.

The ballots will be mailed out within 24 hours of receipt of the request.

Voters are responsible for returning ballots to the Auditor’s office before the polls close on June 30 at 8 p.m.

Those wishing to vote absentee at the Clinton County Auditor’s office may do so between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, until June 29. A voter may not pick up a ballot at the office and take it with them. Ballots must be mailed to voters or voted in the office.
