Buffalo Bill estates cleanup on track

By Samantha Pidde
Herald Staff Writer

CLINTON — The Clinton County Board of Supervisors has been working to begin the cleanup of the Buffalo Bills property while new owner Mike Kopp has been working to get the cleanup finished before the county’s deadline.

At Monday’s meeting of the supervisors, an adjustment was made in the project’s timeline.

The deadline for bids for the Buffalo Bill project was set for July 6. County Engineer Todd Kinney reported that Kopp has been working to notify the necessary agencies and personnel to begin cleanup on July 1. Kinney suggested the board add an addendum to the project to push back the bid due date in order to give Kopp more time to try to get the job done independently and allow contractors more time to get bids turned in for consideration. Kinney proposed pushing the date to receive bids to July 22, with the board acting on them if necessary on July 27. He assured the board this would not delay the project itself if the board continued it at this later date. The start and finish dates of the project would not be changed.

“So all this would do is set us back 30 days. We're still in the process. Cause this is going to get cleaned up one way or another and I do have hope this time in the conversations that I have had with him (Kopp),” said Chairman Dennis Starling.

The supervisors approved a motion to extend the bid due date to July 22.
