Geneseo woman dies as a result of accident

— WELTON — An accident that occurred Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of Barbara C. Haney, 53, of Geneseo, Ill.
Clinton County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of the accident at 190th Street at 210th Avenue, four miles west of Welton at 4:44 p.m. A 2002 Buick, driven by Nancy L. Rutenbeck, 55, of Lost Nation, was traveling west in the 2000 block of 190th Street.
According to reports, Rutenbeck said she fell asleep at the wheel and her vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a 1997 Harley Davidson Century Custom motorcycle. The motorcycle was driven by Allen B. Haney, 55, of Geneseo, with Barbara Haney as a passenger.
Both vehicles continued onto the south shoulder, where they collided. The Rutenbeck vehicle went into the south ditch, became airborne, hit a utility pole and came to rest on its top. The Haney vehicle went airborne and came to rest in the south ditch.
Allen B. Haney and Barbara C. Haney were both transported to Genesis Medical Center – DeWitt by DeWitt Ambulance. Rutenbeck was also transported to Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt by the Wheatland Ambulance.
