Two injured in Carroll County crash

MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three-vehicle accident that occurred on U.S. 52 at the intersection of Jacobstown Road on Thursday night.

The chain-event collision began shortly after 7 p.m. as an eastbound car driven by Kate Law of Mount Carroll was struck from behind by a pickup driven by Jeff Williams of Milledgeville, Ill., sheriff’s department reports indicate.

Law’s vehicle proceeded into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with a westbound car driven by Edward Hiher Sr. of Savanna, Ill. Hiher’s vehicle was then struck a second time by the pickup.

Hiher was transported by Mount Carroll Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Clinton and was later flown to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, Ill.

Mount Carroll Ambulance transported Law from the scene; they were met by Lifeline Helicopter and Law was airlifted to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford.

Williams refused treatment.

The Mount Carroll Police Department, Savanna Police Department and the Mount Carroll Fire Department provided assistance at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police.

No additional information is being released at this time.
