Names released in Friday’s single-vehicle accident

— SPRING HILL, Ill. — The names have been released for two Atkinson, Ill., residents who were left dead in a single-vehicle accident Friday morning.
Wesley A. Stahl, 20, and Karsten J. DeGrave, 20, were traveling west in foggy conditions and the driver was unable to negotiate the curve west of Lyman Road according to a Whiteside County Sheriff report. Whiteside County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of the accident west of Spring Hill on Spring Hill Road at 5:49 a.m.
Deputies determined the vehicle then entered the north ditch and slid uncontrollably, impacted a driveway embankment and became airborne. The vehicle then landed and rolled several times, coming to rest on its top. The vehicle then erupted into flames with Stahl and DeGrave inside.
