CLINTON — The Republican Party elected Dan Behr as their candidate for Clinton County Auditor.
Behr has more than 30 years experience in the auditing profession. He has held several executive level and office management positions and is a past officer of the Quad-Cities and Central States Auditor's Trade Association. Prior to his early retirement from Iowa Mutual Insurance Co., he held positions of branch manager and vice president of Commercial Lines. Behr is currently employed with Insurance Audit Services.
Behr is serving his 10th term as mayor of Grand Mound. Behr was a volunteer fireman for 25 years, was president of the local Jaycee chapter, an officer of the Grand Mound Ball Club, youth baseball coach and past member of the Community Club. He serves on the Central Community School five-year facilities planning committee, the Clinton County Emergency Management Commission and the Clinton County E911 Commission.
Although a registered Republican for most of his life, Behr ran as a Democrat in the June primary and was narrowly defeated. He was then contacted by Republican leaders to consider the nomination.
Behr is a lifelong resident of Clinton County. He and his wife, Cindy, reside in Grand Mound. They have one son, Danny.
