Authorities ask for information

Suspicious death leads to questions by authorities

By Samantha Pidde
Herald Staff Writer

CAMANCHE — The death of Alysia K. Marburger, 27, 608 River St., Sabula, is being treated by authorities as suspicious.

Marburger’s body was discovered Friday, Oct. 24 at 11:08 a.m., along the side of an access road near Rock Creek Cabins, 2829 Highway 67, Camanche. The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny conducted an autopsy on Sunday, Oct. 26.

The body has been positively identified as Marburger and her family has been notified.

The medical examiner’s office has not yet made a ruling on the cause or manner of death and are conducting additional forensic investigation into the matter.

Marburger lived in Sabula with her parents. She was a student at Clinton Community College and the mother of a 10-month-old child. She was reported missing to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 10.

“Sometime on the night of Monday, Oct. 6 or the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 7, was the last time that we are aware of her whereabouts and we're seeking the public's input,” said Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln at a Thursday morning press conference.

The authorities would like to encourage anyone who may have seen Marburger or her 2002 Hyundai Sonata 4-door, which is in the custody of the authorities, to call and offer any information. A person may call the Clinton County Sheriff’s office at 242-9211 or the Clinton County Crime Stoppers at 242-6595 or (888) 883-8015.

“We're seeking the public's assistance so we can track down any leads and by having members of the public that may have seen Miss Marburger or her car on the dates previously mentioned would be beneficial for us,” said Lincoln.

“We anticipate after such an event like this, that we will get a number of phone calls and a number of leads to follow up on and that's what we're looking for here.

“And the Clinton County Sheriff's Office is well-prepared to handle those leads and follow through on those with confidence and confidentiality,” added Clinton County Attorney Mike Wolf.
