United Way campaign reaches one-third of goal

CLINTON — United Way of Clinton County held the fourth of the fall 2008 Campaign report meetings on Oct. 29 at The Wild Rose Casino and Resort. Contributions of $188,609 or 32.5 percent of the $580,000 goal were reported to date.

The Camanche Division continues to lead all divisions with gifts of $6,654 or 73.9 percent of the $9,000 goal. No new contributions were collected. The Professional Division reported $20,705 in gifts for 59.2 percent of their $35,000 goal.

Retail Small Gifts Division reported $25,404 or 42.3 percent of their $60,000 goal contributed. It was closely followed by the Special Gifts Division, which reported $12,288 or 41 percent of their $30,000 goal. The ‘Let's Do Lunch’ Barbecue fundraiser was the major gift reported by the Special Gifts Division with $4,200 to date. The net profits are projected to be more than $5,000 after final expenses and revenues are received. DeWitt Division gifts total $15,623 for 34 percent of the $46,000 goal. The Pacesetter Division contributions increased to $87,320 for 23.3 percent of goal. The division results and total contributions are tracking similar to last year at the same time.

United Way of Clinton County provides $107,510 to the following programs to meet local health and self-sufficiency needs:

Biomedical Services (American Red Cross) — $4,000; Comprehensive Prevention Program (New Directions Inc.) — $ 6,700; Health and Safety (American Red Cross) — $8,000; Language Camp (Mount St Clare Speech & Hearing Center) — $2,000; Maternal Health Care (Women's Health Services) — $15,500; Membership Scholarships (Clinton Family YMCA) — $12,450; Men's Transitional Housing (Clinton Family YMCA) — $11,500; Men's Substance Abuse Treatment Program (New Directions Inc) — $5,900; Seniors and Special Populations (YWCA of Clinton) — $5,960; Social Activities for the Handicapped (Partners for Exceptional People) — $2,250; Special Athletes (Clinton County Special Athletes) — $7,500; Therapy and Augmentative Assistance (Mount St Clare Speech & Hearing Ctr) - $20,750; Women's Substance Abuse Treatment Program (New Directions Inc.) — $5,000.
