CHS grad to appear on NBC’s ‘Community’

CLINTON — Former Clinton resident Kelsy Abbott will be making an appearance on national television Thursday evening in the new comedy “Community.”

Kelsy, 24, of Los Angeles, graduated from Clinton High School in 2003. Since then she has moved to California to pursue a writing career. Kelsy worked as an assistant to actor Jack Black for a year. She has also appeared on The Sarah Silverman Program. Mainly, Kelsy creates some of the Web videos on www.channel101.com, which calls itself “the unavoidable future of entertainment.”

“Community” runs on NBC at 7 p.m. Thursdays. The comedy’s cast includes Joel McHale from “The Soup” and Chevy Chase.

Kelsy said she will be appearing as “Abed’s Annie” in this Thursday’s episode named “Debate 109.” Beverly Abbott, Kelsy’s mother, said people who know Kelsy may not recognize her at first since her long red hair is covered by a black wig.

Kelsy said she had a great time working in the episode, especially working with her friend Dan Harmon, one of the creators of the show. She said she would possibly consider doing other small roles in the future.

Beverly said she and Kelsy’s father, Kim, are very proud of their daughter and are both very excited.
