Crash leaves one dead near DeWitt

DEWITT — A two-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning left a Coal Valley, Ill., man dead and a Clinton man injured.

The accident occurred at 10:07 a.m at U.S. 30 and 340th Avenue. According to reports, a 1999 Buick, driven by Paul G. Ellinwood, 84, of Clinton, was eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30. A 1999 Oldsmobile, driven by Richard C. Perschmann, 87, of Coal Valley, was westbound on U.S. 30. The two vehicles collided head on near 340th Avenue.

Perschmann’s body was transported to Schultz Funeral Home. Ellinwood was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City by MedForce helicopter. Ellinwood’s condition was not available at press time.
