MORRISON, Ill — A Rock Falls, Ill., man was killed in a two-car crash Monday on U.S. 30, just east of Rock Falls.
Richard Kent, 58, of Rock Falls, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Clinton Sturgeon, 55, also of Rock Falls. According to a report from the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Sturgeon was eastbound on U.S. 30 when he lost control of his vehicle due to icy, snow-impacted roads.
Sturgeon’s car entered the westbound lane of the highway, causing a near head-on collision with a vehicle driven by Brian Witte, 49, of Caledonia, Ill.
As a result of the crash, Kent was pronounced dead at the scene by Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald. The conditions of Sturgeon and Witte were unknown at press time.
