AMES — Brian Dose, a former Clinton resident, is remembered on one of the AIDS Memorial Quilt panels in the Memorial Union at Iowa State University. The AIDS Memorial Quilt was on display in the Great Hall this week.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest ongoing community arts project in the world. Each section of The AIDS Memorial Quilt measures approximately 12 square feet, and a typical block consists of eight individual 3 foot by 6 foot panels sewn together. Virtually every one of the more than 40,000 colorful panels that make up the quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS.
ISU has recognized World AIDS Week this past week.
Each day had a theme with related events that were open to the public. All events are free except for the AIDS Walk Fundraiser Saturday.
