CLINTON — A Clinton woman received three years probation and time at the Residential Corrections Facility for burglarizing a local business.
A district court judge sentenced Leanna H. Simpson, 20, 1837 27th Ave. South, to no more than five years in prison and $750 in fines, both of which were suspended, for third-degree burglary. She will be required to complete the RCF program.
According to court documents, Clinton police were called on Nov. 14 to the Alt Dental Surgery Center. Dr. Valarie Rogers indicated she was lying down on the third story of the facility, in an apartment not open to the public, according to the affidavit. She heard a woman walking in the apartment before leaving that floor.
The affidavit continued that Rogers confronted the woman, later identified as Simpson, on why she was in an employee area and the defendant shoved her up against a glass bookcase in the waiting room. Rogers received a laceration to her left hand and was punched in the body a couple of times before Simpson left the office.
According to court documents, a receptionist told Simpson to stay in the waiting room. She told police that the defendant must have left the room and went into the apartment while she was seeing another patient.
