CLINTON — With St. Patrick’s Day quickly approaching, Christmas decorations can still be found decorating the downtown Clinton area.
Business owner Lou Ray attributed the delay on this winter’s harsh weather.
“It’s a group of volunteers who has done it and the weather’s been bad,” Ray said.
She expects volunteers from the Downtown Clinton Alliance will remove the decorations within a week or two. The group has tried to meet to take them down during previous weekends only to have weather advisories prevent it.
Christmas decorations in Lyons have been down since the middle of January. Sheralyn Bartels, of the Lyons Business and Professional Association, said their electrician took them down during two days in January when the weather was not as bad. The LBPA does not have volunteers with the proper equipment, so it has American Electric handle its decorations.
Ray said she was recently in several other towns that still have decorations up.
“It’s not like Clinton’s the only one,” Ray said.
