JUST IN: Central DeWitt's Kreiter signs with Dallas

CLINTON —

All the stress for Casey Kreiter can now subside.

The Central DeWitt graduate and former Iowa Hawkeye longsnapper is moving on to play for one of the most prevalent programs in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys.

"It was a waiting game for me, but now it's a dream come true," said Kreiter on Saturday night via a phone interview. "I was always confident something would happen; I just had to remain patient."

Kreiter was not drafted during the weekend's NFL Draft, but the Cowboys were interested enough to sign the DeWitt native to a free agent deal that places Kreiter on the base rookie salary. In 2013, the base salary ranged from anywhere from $390,000 to $405,000.

"It's never been about the money," Kreiter adds. "I just want to keep playing football, what I love doing. I just want to make sure I'm winning every single day."

Kreiter realizes that the process is new for him and his family.

"This is all brand new to me," he said. "I could rely on my dad for advice when I was in college since he played college football, but now, this is all new for everyone. It will be a day-by-day process."

Kreiter believes that he will arrive in Dallas for the first time next week.
