---- — CLINTON — The Fulton City Council is looking into identifying a spot by the River Bend Middle School as a “safety zone”
The council has been discussing enforcement of no-parking zone — approximately eight to 10 car lengths long — by the middle school. Fulton Police Officer Dave Bartels told the council Monday that the best option would be establishing this yellow zone as a safety zone by ordinance.
“We can’t just enforce a yellow curb,” Bartels said.
Once the ordinance established this safety zone, signs would be placed in the area. Alderwoman Barb Mask favored adding some sort of signage.
“I just think if we expect public not to park there at night, there needs to be a more visible sign than those yellow strips,” Barb Mask said.
The council approved a motion to make the area a safety zone.
