Staffing agency transfers ownership

CLINTON — After nearly a quarter of a century, Clinton’s staffing firm is now under new ownership.

AllStar Staffing, formerly Talent Tree, owned by Kim Clausen, has been sold to Temp Associates, with corporate headquarters in Muscatine. The firm is owned by Bob Jensen and his son, Kyle.

It was founded in 1986 as Muscatine’s first staffing firm . As the years passed, the company opened five other Iowa branches in Burlington, Marshalltown, Grinnell, Fairfield and Mount Pleasant.

“I’ve known Kim for more than 20 years,” Bob said. “I’ve always had the highest regard for her and her professionalism.”

He added that when his son joined the firm, he wanted to expand more than they already had, and was interested in acquiring an existing staffing firm.

“My company wasn’t really for sale at the time Bob approached me,’’ Clausen said. “But if I could hand pick who would buy it, they would be my choice. I would only have sold to someone who had their integrity in business and concern for their employees.”

Kyle, who joined his father several years ago, noted that there were many similarities between Muscatine and Clinton. He pointed out the strong industrial base and the size of the community.

“The location of Clinton is a real plus,’’ Kyle said. “It’s only an hour away from Muscatine which is good.”

With regard to the industrial base of Clinton, Bob said “that’s really our strength.” He explained that in the early years he made all of the sales calls, but currently they have corporate sales people on staff to make many of the industrial calls.

Bob’s career began in human resources with Bandag in Muscatine. As a member of the National Independent Staffing Agencies, he was named Industry Leader of the Year in recognition of his leadership and knowledge in the field. His firm has also been recognized for having the best benefit program in the industry. Kyle, also a veteran of the Bandag organization, worked primarily in research and development and market research.

The transfer of ownership will be effective Monday. The business will remain in its present location at 2100 S. 21st. St. in Clinton.
