DNR: Tracks likely a bobcat

CLINTON — Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers were out again Monday, following reports of another mountain lion sighting.

However, according to conservation officer Shawn Meier, the animal spotted near the Wild Rose Casino at around 5:30 p.m., was probably a bobcat.

“The tracks (found near the Wild Rose Casino) to me don’t say mountain lion,” Meier said.

“They look like bobcat’s.”

Meier said that based on the tracks size, they were too small to have been made even by a small mountain lion.

This was the second time in a week DNR officials were called to investigate a possible mountain lion appearance.

One was believed to have been spotted Saturday about a half-mile from the site of the Ashford graduation ceremony.

A mountain lion was captured in an image earlier this fall in DeWitt.
