The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is working to determine the cause and origin of a fire that occurred this morning in Wheatland.
The Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 4:30 a.m. to the former Mac’s Triangle restaurant, 104 West Lincolnway, after a volunteer firefighter discovered the fire on his way to work, according to a press release. Heavy smoke was seen coming from the single-story wood framed structure and flames were observed in the basement upon the arrival of the fire department.
Assisting at the scene were the Calamus and Lowden volunteer fire departments, Wheatland Ambulance, and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the fire scene to assist in the investigation.
