Two injured in crash near Fulton

FULTON, Ill. — Two Rock Falls, Illinois, residents were injured in a traffic crash near Fulton early Sunday.

According to the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. to the one-vehicle traffic crash on Illinois 84, a half mile south of Schafer Road. Injured in the traffic crash were the driver, Billy R. Mills, 27, and passenger, Lynn M. Boles, 29.

Both occupants had to be extricated from the car. Both were transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center – North, in Clinton. Drivers' license information indicates that the driver and passenger resided in Rock Falls.

The car, a 1994 Honda Civic owned by Mills, was traveling south on Illinois 84 when it began to slide on the wet road. The car slid off the road and into the east ditch. The car continued to slide through the ditch and struck a tree, with the driver's side rear of the car. The impact caused the car to spin around, with the passenger's side of the car striking another tree. A passerby came upon the car and reported the traffic crash to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene of the crash by Fulton Fire Department, Fulton Ambulance Service, Fulton police and Midwest Collision. The car was a total loss.
