---- — CLINTON — United Way of Clinton County, Iowa held the first Fall 2013 Campaign Report Meeting on Oct. 17 at McEleney Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Toyota in Clinton.
“We are encouraged by the time and treasure the volunteers that contribute to United Way throughout the year, not just during the giving campaign. McEleney’s is proud to be Clinton’s Hometown Dealer since 1914,” stated Drew McEleney. “McEleney’s is pleased to help such an amazing organization give back to multiple charities and non-profits in the Clinton area.”
Travis Flatten, 2013 Campaign chairman, anticipated a 15 percent overall goal to be reported at the meeting; instead, 21.3 percent of the overall goal was reached.
Dean Brainerd, plant manager at Archer Daniels Midland Company’s Clinton facility, emphasized employee giving, which may have brought the Pacesetter Division (large industries) ahead of goal. ADM reported achieving 86 percent of its $50,000 employee contribution goal. ADM matches the employee contributions dollar for dollar, bringing its total pledge to $86,000.
“As a company of individuals, we believe we have a responsibility to the communities where we live and work,” Brainerd said. “One way to give back to the communities where we operate is through our support of the United Way. ADM is a longtime partner of United Way, whose philosophy and work align with ADM’s purpose to serve vital needs, and the ADM Cares’ commitment to create vibrant communities globally.”
The second Fall 2013 Campaign Report Meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercy Medical Center, Conference Rooms B and C in Clinton. The event is open to the public and a breakfast will be served. Albert’s Jewelers in Clinton will provide a free jewelry cleaner to patrons who visit Albert’s on Thursday or Friday and are wearing the United Way sticker received at the report meeting.
