BREAKING NEWS: Man faces eight citations in connection with dog attack

CLINTON — Eight citations have been filed against the owner of two pit bulls in connection with an attack on a Clinton man last week.

Clinton police filed four citations for both of the dogs owned by Ryan K. Blume, 25, 215 16th Place.

The dogs are blamed for the attack on Benjamin Nave, 31, 716 S. Sixth St., on July 2 in the 200 block of 16th Place as he walked from a friend's house to Hy-Vee. One of the dogs was shot and killed that night. The other was shot, but has not been found.

Blume was cited for a dangerous dog, a dog running at large, no proof of rabies vaccination and no proof of city license, according to Clinton Police Capt. James Klaes.

Under the current animal control ordinance, Blume faces fines and possible jail time if convicted.

Police have not been able to contact Blume and believe he may have fled to Dubuque.

Officials have begun the process to have an arrest warrant issued.
