Kyle Julian, 18, will serve as much as 15 years after his escape from Clinton County jail in April.
Julian pleaded guilty Friday to escaping custody and was ordered to serve as much as five years with the Iowa Department of Corrections. A $750 fine was suspended.
Julian and Kendrell Keith, 18, escaped from the jail at 4:40 p.m. April 6. Keith was captured later that night in the 1500 block of Camanche Avenue. Officials caught Julian at 12:20 a.m. on April 8 in a vehicle on U.S. 30 just west of Lowden in Cedar County.
Keith’s next pre-trial confer- ence is set for May 16.
Julian’s probation for two pre- vious charges was revoked Friday. In January, he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm as a felon and burglary in the second degree. At the time, he received suspended prison sen- tences.
He will now be required to serve as many as five years in prison for the firearm charge and up to 10 years for the burglary charge. These two sentences will run concurrently.
