Illinois shooting involves Clinton men

CLINTON — A Clinton man is in critical condition and another is charged with a felony after a shooting in Streator.

Marcus D. Blodgett, 22, of Clinton, was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon in Streator after being detained Saturday after a shooting at 1211 N. Park St.

The Streator Police Department responded to the residence at 8:30 p.m. Saturday regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found that Christopher J. Smith, 19, of Clinton, had been shot.

Police say Smith received life-threatening injuries, and was later transported to Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. Smith is still being hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

Blodgett was taken into custody at the residence and was transported to the police department. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with the Class 3 felony. Additional charges may result pending a further investigation and review by the LaSalle County State's Attorney office.

Blodgett has been transferred to the LaSalle County Jail and is being held on $75,000 bond. Blodgett's next court date is March 13.
