Police called to investigate DeWitt wedding reception

---- — CLINTON — DeWitt police are investigating incidents at a Saturday wedding reception at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.

Michael G. Postell, 30, of rural DeWitt, is accused of serious assault and public intoxication, second offense. Officers were dispatched at 10:09 p.m. Saturday to a report that Postell hit the caller’s father, according to court documents.

Law enforcement met with the victim and observed a significant face and eye injuring, requiring immediate medical attention, according to the affidavit. The victim told officers he did not know the name of the man who hit him.

Witnesses said Postell left the scene on foot and was intoxicated, according to court documents. He was last seen wearing jeans and no shirt.

The affidavit continues that Postell was located at 11:28 p.m., just west of the fairgrounds. He told officers he was drinking beer and declined a breathalyzer test, according to court documents. He denied any involvement in an assault.

While handling the call, officers also responded to a report of injuries to a male and female at the same location. According to a press release from the DeWitt Police Department, these injuries involved a vehicle.

Emergency personnel transported all three victims to Genesis Hospital in DeWitt via ambulance. No charges have been filed in regard to the second incident. Both remain under investigation.
