---- — CLINTON — Clinton County Democrats have announced that U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont will be the keynote speaker for the annual Clinton County Democratic Hall of Fame dinner.
The dinner will be Saturday, May 17, at the Millenium Ballroom in Goose Lake. The social hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Congressman Dave Loebsack and State Sen. Jack Hatch, Democratic candidate for governor, will be speaking at 5 p.m. at the start of the social. The social hour will be a cash bar.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 and the program will follow with Senator Sanders’ key note address and presentation of Clinton’s new Hall of Fame inductees speaking briefly when presented with their individual plaques.
Sanders is a progressive who caucuses with the Senate Democrats. Democrats “have to stop being defensive” about the Affordable Care Act and aggressively call out Republican governors in more than 20 states who have refused to expand Medicaid, Sanders told the Rev. Al Sharpton during an interview Monday on MSNBC.
Dinner tickets are $30 and can be reserved by contacting County Chairwoman Jean Pardee at firstname.lastname@example.org, 242-8111 or at the party website.
