Grand Easter Egg Hunt has a new location

CLINTON — Children attending this Saturday’s Grand Easter Egg Hunt will be searching for their goodies in a new location, inside the former Harding Elementary School, located at 1401 12th Ave. North.

According to organizer Leanna Geffers, co-chairwoman of the event which has been put on for the past five years by the Clinton Riverboat Days Committee, the event was brought indoors for the first time this year due to wet and muddy conditions at the Ericksen Community Center, where the hunt was originally scheduled to take place.

“We’ve got some exciting things planned for this year,” Geffers said. “We took it to the next level. It’s just going to be great for kids.”

The free event starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, with children 3 and younger invited to come and meet the Easter Bunny. The egg hunt will begin at approximately 1:30 with 4 and 5-year-olds, followed by children ages 6 and 7, 8 and 9, and 10 and 11, going one group at a time. Geffers says more than 19,000 eggs have been stuffed with candy and surprises, and organizers will be giving away 300 Easter baskets, as well as bicycles, savings bonds, gold coins and a guitar.

“I’m excited,” Geffers said. “I want to see lots and lots of kids there.”
