---- — CLINTON — A Clinton man is facing three felony charges in connection with an arrest Friday for possession of a controlled substance.

Travon J. Patterson, 22, 2468 S.14th St., is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, third offense. These are all class D felonies.

According to court documents, a Clinton police officer observed two subjects at 8:23 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, leaving the Circle K gas station, 1530 N. Second St., in a hurried manner. The officer followed the silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix to Sunny Mart, 630 N. Third St., and attempted to make contact with the individuals in the business.

The affidavit continues that the officer noticed the odor of fresh marijuana coming from the still-running vehicle. As the driver, Patterson, exited the building, the officer explained that he detected the odor of marijuana and asked for permission to search the vehicle. Patterson consented to the search, according to court documents.

The search revealed a marijuana cigarette and a Marlboro box containing 19 pills etched with M357, found to be acetaminophen and hydrocodone, a schedule III controlled substance. The affidavit continues that a bag containing a green leafy substance, a pill bottle with six pills labeled M357 and six blue pills etched with 605 were found in the locked glove box.

The blue pills were identified as alprazolam, a schedule IV controlled substance. A Nartec drug kit proved the 30 grams of green leafy substance to be marijuana.
