Fair queens to be selected July 18

---- — DeWITT — The 2013 Clinton County Fair Queen and Lil’ Miss Clinton County Fair Queen will be crowned on Thursday, July 18, at 5 p.m. in the Beef Arena.

Six candidates are running for the title of Clinton County Fair Queen and nine will be running for Lil’ Miss Fair Queen.

Queen CandidatesHeidi Andresen Heidi Andresen is the 19-year-old daughter of Darwin and Mary Andresen. Heidi was very active in 4-H and FFA. She has served as DeWitt Central FFA Chapter Secretary, Southeast FFA District Secretary, and South East State Vice President for the Iowa FFA. She was also Equine Fever 4-H President from 2008-2012. She would participate in the FFA Rake n’ Run, the American Kennel Club Dog Show, Quad-City Air Show cleanup, Saddle up for St. Jude and county fair cleanup. Heidi plans to graduate from Iowa State University with a double major in agriculture education and animal science. Upon her completion of graduation she plans to become an Ag teacher and FFA advisor.

Sarah FlathersSarah Flathers is the 19-year-old daughter of Kurt and Colleen Flathers. Sarah was very active in band and choir throughout high school. She was also involved in cheerleading and was a student ambassador for three years. Sarah was a nine-year 4-H member and a two-year member of the 4-H County Council. Her interests include dancing, singing, working with children and hanging out with her friends and family.Sarah is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Iowa. After she graduates, she plans to attend graduate school in pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa. Sarah hopes to one day own her own pharmacy and continue to volunteer with churches, dance activities and young children.

Tayler GreenTayler is the 16-year-old daughter of Kendra Schroeder and Brian Green. Tayler is a seven-year member of 4-H. She is an active member of her school choir and has collected and made food for the homeless at Café on Vine. She has received an academic letter and Certificate of Excellence of Academic Achievement in her past years of high school. Tayler’s hobbies consist of training dogs, camping, horseback riding, swimming and photography. After high school, Tayler plans to attend the University of Iowa and become an orthodontist.

Jessica HaringJessica Haring is the 18-year-old daughter of Chris and Anne Haring. Jessica is a six-year 4-H member and has been vice president and secretary in her club. She was also a member of the FCCLA. With that she has served two years as chapter secretary and one year as president. Jessica is a member of the Venture Crew 77 where she went on camping and other adventure trips and participated in many service activities around the community. Jessica has also volunteered for many other things around the community such as the Eastern Iowa Threshers Association, Frances Banta Waggoner Community Library, Grand Mound Community Club and a World Gospel Outreach Honduras Mission trip. Jessica plans to attend Scott Community College in the fall to study business and hospitality management and go on to receive a degree in hospitality management or dietetics from Iowa State University or the University of Wisconsin.

Sarah KinradeSarah Kinrade is the 18-year-old daughter of Steve and Julie Kinrade. Throughout high school, Sarah was very involved in marching band, concert band, soccer, volleyball, FFA and National Honor Society. She is a nine-year member of the Delmar Hot Shots 4-H club and has served as secretary and president. Sarah has been a member of St. Patrick’s youth group in Delmar for four years, and is a 4-H County Council member and an eighth-grade volleyball coach. Sarah will be attending Iowa State University in the fall to major in animal science. She plans to receive her bachelor’s degree in animal science and her Master’s Degree in business in five years. With these degrees, Sarah plans to pursue a career as a pharmaceutical sales representative.

Amber MeyerAmber Meyer is the 16-year-old daughter of Kevin and Tina Meyer. She was a varsity football and wrestling cheerleader, on the varsity dance team, DeWitt Central FFA chapter secretary, cheer leadership council representative, member of the color guard and a member of the school concert band. Amber is currently secretary of Clinton County 4-H Council, treasurer of Equine Fever 4-H Club and a member of the Equine Fever drill team. Amber plans to continue her primary focus on school and her extracurricular activities. After high school she wishes to pursue a degree in either the agricultural or medical field.

Lil’ Miss Candidates include Ava Bousman, 4, daughter of Jennifer and Justin Bousman; Jena Edwards, 8, daughter of Dan and Shannon Edwards; Alexis Endreshak, 4, daughter of Heather and Mike Endreshak; Fayeth Henningsen, 8, daughter of Terry and Jennifer Henningsen; Megan Forret, 8, daughter of Chris and Lori Forret; Laura Martens, 6, daughter of Steven and Michelle Martens; Gabriella Stankee, 8, daughter of Christy and Paul Stankee; Piper Wiesner, 8, daughter of William Wiesner; and Brianna Winter, 8, daughter of Christy and Travis Winter.
