Firefighters are continuing their investigation into a fire that damaged a Clinton residence Friday night.
Firefighters were called at 8:35 p.m. to 616 22nd Ave. North, receiving a report that a person was still inside the burning structure.
Heavy smoke was coming from the front door of the home when firefighters arrived. It was reported at that time the occupant had been assisted out of the house by an off-duty Clinton firefighter. The resident was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
The fire was contained to a living room in the back of the home, with the blaze under control in 20 minutes.
The home sustained $25,000 in damage, according to a Clinton Fire Department press release. Smoke damage was noted throughout the structure, with water damage to the first floor and basement.
Fulton, Ill., firemen were called to provide mutual aid and Camanche ambulance personnel were brought in to assist with an unrelated EMS incident.
