Nine injured in Illinois crash

STERLING, Ill. — Nine people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Illinois 40, north of Capp Road.

According to an accident report, the crash occurred at 7:55 a.m. A passenger car driven by Debra S. Snyder, 58, of Rock Falls, Ill., was northbound on Illinois 40, north of Capp Road. Debbie L. Williamson, 58, of Milledgeville, Ill., was southbound on Illinois 40, in a vehicle carrying seven passengers.

According to the report, Snyder lost control due to icy road conditions and slid into the traffic lane of the Williamson vehicle. The Williamson vehicle struck the left side of the Snyder vehicle.

Snyder and Williamson were both taken by ambulance to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Ill. The following passengers of the Williamson vehicle also were taken to CGH Medical Center: Jasun A. Liepitz, 37; Jill E. McIntyre, 32; John Timm, 45; David Blackburn, 52; Lyle Vanbuskirk, 44; Amanda Kienzle, 24; and Bill Blackburn, 50.

All are from Milledgeville.

The Illinois State Police was assisted at the scene by CGH Ambulance, Milledgeville Ambulance, Sterling Fire Department and Rock Falls Fire Department.
