Clinton man charged with hitting squad cars

CLINTON — A Clinton man has been charged with striking two police cars two weeks ago.

Clinton police cited Brent Cromer, 45, with striking an unattended vehicle.

According to law enforcement officials, two marked police cars parked in the 500 block of 10th Avenue South were struck by an eastbound vehicle at 7:44 p.m. Nov. 25. The vehicle — identified as a Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with a model year between 1999 and 2002 — fled the scene after striking both cars.

Officers later received an anonymous tip providing the name of a possible suspect.

Police conducted a follow-up Friday on this information and located a vehicle, matching the description, with fresh damage. The damage to the vehicle was consistent to damage caused by striking the two vehicles, police said.
