---- — CLINTON — Two crashes happened Friday within minutes of each other on a Clinton County highway.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s office responded to a two-vehicle collision at 7:58 a.m. Friday at the 1900 block of U.S. 61, just south of Welton.
According to the sheriff’s office, Rosemary Crawford, of Maquoketa, was southbound in her 2009 Ford Focus when she struck the rear of a grain truck driven by Thomas Diercks, of Grand Mound.
Crawford was transported by Genesis ambulance, while Diercks was not injured. The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash.
Shortly after the sheriff’s office arrived on the scene, another crash happened approximately a half-mile north in the 1800 block of U.S. 61.
According to the sheriff’s department, the initial investigation indicates a car struck the back of a semi as traffic was slowing or stopped for the original crash.
The driver of that crash was taken from the scene by Medforce helicopter.
