MORRISON, Ill. — Several members of Innervation Dance Cooperative have been selected by the choreographer to perform a special piece.
Sunny Kallas will share her vision in a memorial tribute dance for her instructor, the late Anne Petersen. The Morrison instructor died May 18 from unexpected medical complications.
Completing the circle, Kallas will wear one of Petersen’s dresses for the event.
From Thursday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 24, a Chicago professional dance company will take to the stage.
“With Both Feet” will be held at Links Hall, 3111 N. Western Ave., Chicago, beginning at 7 p.m. each evening.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (773) 209-1474 or from the Innervation Dance Cooperative website. General admission is $20; students and senior citizens pay $15.
Area residents have begun to fill a van to attend the performance on Friday, Nov. 22, because Petersen’s daughter Patti Austin of Riverton, Ill., will attend that evening. Call Kallas’s mother, Jill Kaufman, by Monday, Nov. 18, to reserve a seat on the shuttle.
She advises calling soon, as several seats have been reserved. Others are invited to carpool and follow the shuttle van on the trek to the northwest side of Chicago. Kaufman estimated drive time is less than two hours. Reach her at (815) 499-1839.
Kallas graduated from Illinois State University with a Dance and Theater major. Since then, she lives her dream as a professional dancer and choreographer. Within the upcoming program are other expressions of Kallas’s dance design.
