UPDATE: MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — A Mount Carroll man injured in a weekend all-terrain vehicle accident died Monday afternoon from his injuries.
Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia confirmed this morning that Shawn Miller, 24, died at 12:20 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony’s Hospital, in Rockford, Ill., as the result of massive head injuries.
She added that he had been declared brain dead and his family had consented to organ donation.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called at 8:18 p.m. Sunday for an ATV accident on Meyers Road. The press release says Miller was southbound on Schmidt Road when his ATV left the road and struck a tree. He was airlifted by LifeLine helicopter to St. Anthony’s Hospital.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Mount Carroll man is listed in critical condition this morning following a Sunday night ATV accident.
Shawn Miller, 24 was airlifted by LifeLine helicopter to St. Anthony’s Hospital, in Rockford, Ill. He is currently in the neuro-trama intensive care unit.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 8:18 p.m. regarding an ATV accident on Meyers Road in Mount Carroll.
According to a press release, Miller was southbound on Schmidt Road when the ATV left the road and struck a tree.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Mount Carroll ambulance, the Mount Carroll police department and the Shannon, Ill., fire department.
The incident remains under investigation.
