River Kings win in shootout

DAVENPORT — The Clinton River Kings soccer team won a thriller at Davenport Assumption Wednesday night, winning on penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtimes.

Clinton goalkeeper Tyler Bodkin stopped three of the Knights’ five penalty shots. River Kings Robbie Cullen and Tyler Voss found the back of the net in the tiebreaker and teammate Dane Kristensen added his second goal for the night to garner the win.

“Assists by Michael Voss aided in the win and defensive play by Kirndeep Sangha and Adam Mangan insured the victory,” Clinton coach Pat Cullen said.

The Kings (3-1-1) travel to Burlington Tuesday.
