River Queen tennis team cruises to win

MUSCATINE — The Clinton River Queens tennis team cruised to a 9-0 Mississippi Athletic Conference win over the Muscatine Muskies Thursday night.

Clinton improved to 5-0 in the MAC and 5-1 overall. The River Queens won every match by a lopsided margin as no match was closer than 8-3.

Clinton’s singles winners were Ellen Russell, Claire Cornilsen, Katie Crites, Alyson Goetzl, Megan Determan and Sarah Massey.

The Queens’ winning doubles teams included Russell and Cornilsen, Crites and Goetzl, and Determan and Massey.

“The girls played great,” Clinton coach Cindy Rasche said. “They were very focused. Claire Cornilsen was first off in about 30 minutes. This win is another confidence-builder for our Saturday invite.”
