River Kings' track team takes third place at Bettendorf meet

BETTENDORF — The Clinton River Kings ran to a third place finish at the Bettendorf ABC Meet on Friday.

The host Bulldogs took the team win with 267.50 points while Cedar Rapids Washington was second with 242.50.

The River Kings took third with 220 and Central DeWitt was fourth with 169.

Cedar Rapids Xavier, Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Dubuque Senior rounded out the field.

Clinton’s Ethan Holmes led the River Kings with three A Division golds.

The junior won the 110-meter hurdles (15.11), 400-meter dash (50.37) and the 400-meter hurdles (58.27).

The 4x800-meter relay team of James Smith, Sean Schoephorster, Chris Teney and Kaleb Frazier took gold in the A Division with a time of 8:31.13.

Senior Scott DeAngelis won the B Division 400-meter dash with a clocking of 51.89, while Chris Teney made it a sweep of the 400 for Clinton as he won the C Division in 53.17.

Senior Jordan Camp was tops in the B Division of the high jump with a height of 5-10.

Central DeWitt earned two individual wins on the evening as Adam McDonnell and Ben Lubben recorded a pair of field event victories.

Lubben took first in the A Division long jump with a leap of 20-10 1/2, while McDonnell won gold in the A Division discus with a toss of 136-5.
