Callan, Hess win for CHS swimmers

CLINTON — The Clinton girls swim team wrapped its Mississippi Athletic Conference schedule Tuesday night with a 130-39 loss to Davenport Central at Judd Pool.
Libby Hess won the 100-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke, while Laura Callan recorded a personal-best 184.65 in the 1-meter diving.
“We're starting to swim better and better,” Clinton coach June Wilden said. “I think when they feel like there's a chance, they swim with more confidence, and that's what we're looking for.”
The Clinton junior varsity posted an 85-61 win over Central.
Emma Yahn won the diving and the 100 freestyle. Madison Kenworthy notched a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly, Hope Creeley won the 200 individual medley and the 200 freestyle relay team of Yahn, Jenna Strait, Stevie Erling and Kayla Hernandez earned a 9-second win.
The River Queens host United Township on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the regular-season finale.
