Boys basketball roundup: Steamers, Indians, Sabers roll

PORT BYRON, Ill. — A first-half scoring blitzed staked Fulton to a comfortable lead, and the Steamers went on to defeat Riverdale 66-46 on Friday in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball.

The Steamers raced to an 18-3 lead after one quarter and pushed the advantage to 31-7 by halftime.

Fulton spread out its scoring, too. Five different players scored in the first quarter, including five points each by Seth Sanderson and Jason Osborn. Matt Dail and Osborn added four each in the second quarter.

Zach Barber and Dail finished with 13 points each to lead the Steamers.

Riverdale’s Cole Solomon led all scorers with 16 points.

Indians win again

CAMANCHE — Camanche knocked down eight 3-point baskets, including one that put them ahead for good at 7-4, as it beat West Branch 71-46 in the River Valley Conference.

Brody Lodge scored 13 points to lead the Indians, who won their third game in a row to improve to 6-9. Dylan Busse added 12 points, eight after intermission, and Will Seeser scored 10.

Alex Hamer scored 12 points to lead the Bears, who have lost nine straight.

Bauer scores 18 for DeWitt

MARION — Kyle Bauer scored 18 points for Central DeWitt in a 54-45 win over Marion on Friday night. The Sabers scored 16 in the first and fourth quarters to seal the win.

The Sabers were also disciplined in the foul category, sending the Indians to the line just five times. DeWitt is now 11-2 on the season as the next game for the Sabers is against Marion once again Friday night, this time in DeWitt.

Eastland beats Thunder

LANARK, Ill. — Four Eastland players scored in double digits Friday as the Cougars defeated West Carroll 71-45 in Northwest Upstate Illini Conference boys basketball.

West Carroll stayed close to the Cougars in the first quarter. Marshall Fink scored six of his 10 points to help Eastland take a 19-16 lead. But, Eastland took off in the second quarter, outscoring the Thunder 17-5. Dalton Shaner, Skylar Paulson and Valdet Seferi each scored four points in the period for the Cougars.

Shaner, who led Eastland with 14 points, took off in the third quarter. He scored eight points in the quarter.

Seferi scored 13 for the Cougars, Brighton Haverland added 11 and Fink finished with 10.

Travis Hartman and Devon Hartley scored nine points each to lead West Carroll.
